Simple Things Fermentations: Bohemian Pilsner (440ml)
A simple lager made with the best ingredients, plus time. Bohemian Pilsner malt and Saaz hops is a classic combination; tried, tested and enjoyed worldwide pretty much since the pioneering Josef Groll first began to brew pale beers in Plzeň around 1842. Time is arguably the most important bit; we let this beer rest in the tank for at least six weeks. Pours a deep golden straw colour with a very faint haze and crisp, white foam. On the nose, fresh bread dough dominates with delicate spicy, floral and fruit notes in support. There’s a pronounced bitterness and carbonic bite but it’s a soft, rounded affair. A beer with exceptional drinkability that’s really all about allowing the ingredients to shine – malted barley and noble hops in perfect harmony.
